- The Open Graph (“OG”) title has one specific purpose. When you share that particular page with the OG title in social networks, other than Twitter, this is the title that shows in the social post. It started with just Facebook. That is why they call it Open Graph, which was coined by Facebook backend database search. For instance on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, or Linkedin, if you share that page, you will notice the title comes from the OG setting. Often the OG title will end up being the same title as on the page. However, a small hack would be to adjust the title to be better for social networks. An example would be what would go perfectly with the OG image. So this goes beyond SEO. There is SEO because the title can get passed to Google and get indexed.
