29 Aug Open Graph “OG” Description
I have separated different sections in this eBook about aspects of Open Graphic per meta tag. You would think that this would stop simply as “description” and use that description in both the main meta description and the OG description. In fact, that is what we are doing. But as a hack, you may want to make it slightly different. Remember the OG data is not for Google specifically, it is more about sharing on social media like Facebook for instance. This is the content that gets pushed into Facebook as the description on Facebook. While we are getting slightly away from SEO per the Google concept, we are talking about usability and visible content on Facebook. Where is that content indexed and how is it used? It would seem mainly for helping find ads to send right to you. It makes you think, let’s all stop using Facebook because that is what it is all about. So, my specific hack for this is to change the description content for Facebook OG to be more about Facebook users. Make it read even more naturally and let about SEO and more about conversion (getting people to click).
