Image alt tags provide “alternative” text for elements like images and links.  Most website builders and web agencies ignore alt image tags because it takes time and energy to fill them in and the website building game is about reducing time and energy, not extending work. So taking the time and energy to fill these in is only for SEO experts and people who care about getting higher search results. Remember, Google supports a whole “image search” area that alt tags are used for.  For customers, when they view their websites, they will never understand why they are important or if they have been completed.  That’s because most customers are not savvy enough to understand the importance of image alt tags and they are not easy to check unless you know what you are doing. Top SEO experts know they are important.  If the image ever breaks, it is the alt tag that would visually show up.  We have used these alt tags over the years to get an SEO advance by filling them with SEO terms.
