Building Backlinks by developing a blog article or story for a reporter

1. I get people trying to connect or sell me services all day long, especially on Linkedin.  Everybody wants to sell me their time or a product or service, but very few contact me to ask me if they can write a blog article that appears on their website.  Now, you would think why would they want this.  The first is they know that creating content takes time and energy and if they wanted to pay someone, it would cost them something. I would ask to write an article or short blog post for free, especially within the same industry. That article would need to have a backlink in it back to your main website to make it worth it.  Remember Google counts up all these backlinks so ask away.  It will be an unusual request, but I believe that if you share an industry, they may just take the request and grant it!
